Inca Tales and Inca Legends

You will hear many legends and tales of mystery during your time in South America. Incan history is riddled with strange stories of events that weren't written down, but have been passed through generations.

One of many
Inti was the Inca sun god, and was married to Pachamama, who was the Earth Goddess. However, Inti being a god and able to do pretty much what ever he liked, was also married to Mama Quilla the moon goddess. As if being married to two goddesses wasn't enough, it just so happened that Mama Quilla was also his sister.

Inti and Pachamama had a son and a daughter, Manco Capac and Mama Quilla and guess what? This brother and sister combo also ended up getting married too, just to keep it in the family.

In the style of a true talk show, there is always a wild card thrown in, and in some stories, Manco Capac wasn't Inti's son at all, but the son of Viracocha (who in most stories is also Inti's father!)

It was from these unusual beginnings that the entire Inca Empire was created. You will visit Lake Titicaca and the Isla Del Sol from where Manco appeared before setting forth with his wife (who, don't forget was also his sister) and founding the city at the heart of the Inca Empire, Cusco.

The motto to this story is that mighty oaks, from small family trees grow, just like the mighty Inca Empire.
